I'd love to be able to blame Dr Who's original demise on Bonnie Langford...
...but I think that ultimately, Tom Baker was responsible.

I guess my point was that in a series like Dr Who thta relies on constant change, Tom Baker spent too long in the role, thus defining the part almost and creating a very hard act to follow...believe me, this isn't a criticism of Tom Baker...

errrrr Davison you mean. Don't thonk that there is or has been a demise as yet. It has been wobbly at times but cant bring myself to say that a demise is clear

when I say demise I mean that period when the show was most definitely OVER...a period which chose to end when I moved to Japan, *EDITTED FOR SWEARING*...

Any hoo, I think they just needed to blame somebody and they blamed BL. The real culprit was other very expensive sci-fi movies & TV shows, yes Doctor Who still had it's many fans but they were of a certain age who had grownup with it and saw through it's little quirks and loved it for what it was and had always been. But Movies and TV were changing rapidly and the younger potential audiences were tempted else where by bonny flashing lights and their interest wavered temporarily.

If you can't use THAT word, how else can you describe someone who was conceived illegitimately and can no more pass through the kingdom of heaven than can a camel through the eye of a needle? It isn't really a swear word...I could have said something much viler...
