I am aware of that over the years some companions have died. I was wondering if anybody (Der Martin, for example) could tell me about some of these (the deaths, not the companions).

Adric saved Earth and died when the spaceship he was on exploded. This left the 5th Doctor distraught throughout the rest of his incarnation and when he regenerates into the sixth Doctor, you hear him say "...Adric.."
