I found something:

The Doctor and Sam (Samantha) arrive at a planet and stumble across an auction. The auction is for a dead body that the seller claims is the Doctor (A future incarnation). A few things came out of this story. First the idea of a type 102 Tardis. Fully sentient and able to take human form. Apparently used in a future war between the Timelords and another Time active race) and the war itself. It's hinted (But only with hindsight) that the body is the third Doctor.

Every couple of books after that we'd get some other hint or clue as to the nature of the war or things that happen in it. The war is supposed to take place at sometime in the Doctor's future.

Faction Paradox are introduced. FP are a rogue branch of Time Lords who live in the 11 Day Empire. These guys are dedicated to fucking around with the timeline for their own ends and start butting heads with the Doc.

Interference Part 1 and 2
Two books that feature plot strands by the third and eighth Doctors. It's a long and complicated story but it introduces a key plot point. That a Faction Paradox virus kills the third Doctor *before* he dies in The Planet of The Spiders. This takes place on a planet called Dust. At this point the Doc picks up a new companion. An ex Faction Paradox agent called Compassion.

Later in the series the Tardis is completely destroyed when a portal to Avalon appears in the middle of England and the Tardis hits it. By the end of the book Compassion has become a type 101 Tardis (the first sentient Tardis) and Romana's third incarnation (War Queen of Gallifrey) wants to capture her and use her to breed with Bull Tardis units to create the type 102 she needs to fight in the coming war.

More books blah blah blah.

The Ancestor Cell.
The Time Lords capture the Doctor and Compassion. A giant bone structure has appeared in the sky over Gallifrey and the timelines are starting to alter. The war is coming. Lots of things happen. The dead third Doctor turns out to be the ultimate paradox and is the head of Faction Paradox (Grandfather Paradox). The bone structure is the Doctor's tardis desperately trying to contain the energies of the third doc paradox (So it doesn't happen) and Romana is being a bitch.

By the end the Doctor has use the energy the Tardis has been containing by blowing up the bone structure. This destroys Gallifrey and for reasons I'm not going into stop the war from happening and saves the universe.

Compassion has rescued the Doctor from the structure just as it exploded but the shock of what he had to do has unhinged him and he's lost his memory.

Compassion puts him on a train at the beginning of the 20th century with a small stone (The core of the Tardis. It'll need 100 years to regrow) and a note to meet Fitz (His other companion) in 100 years time at a specific location.

The Doctor then spends the next 6 or seven books living in the 20th century and having adventures. Then lots of other complicated things happen.

The last 8th Doctor book is due out in June and is called "The Gallifrey Chronicles".

yeah, it seems to me that nobody every really wanted to complete the story, i guess so that tv episodes and films could be made.
i would love to see the doctor travel back to the time war, wouldn't it be great if he screwed the whole thing up. then the limelords could come back.
