For me, its a hard choice between Tom Baker and CE. This is because, although I am 17, before the new series, I was a Doctor Who fan and mainly watched the episodes from Tom Baker's era. But I also like CE as he revamped the Doctor's image.
So, I'm comfused who to choose (no pun intended). |

I guess this is the one question posed to every single Dr. Who fan. At least all those who have seen more than one doctor. As of now that will be all of you. Generally most people answer the first doctor they have ever seen. That means that your doctor will probably be the first one that you saw on screen. A bit like James Bond, the original and the best for many was Sean Connery, why? well because he was the first that you have seen, unless of course you are 15 years old in which case your favorite Bond will probably be Pearce Brosnan, who was/is in no way a bad Bond.
Anyway The first Doctor that I (consciously) saw on screen was Tom Baker. He did 7 years and so it was the first Doc for a whole generation. There was simply nothing to argue over. That said my favourite Doc is Not Tom baker, even though he was absolutely Brilliant.
My fave is without a doubt a man called Patrick Troughton. This is a tradgedy due to the fact that most of his episodes were lost or wiped and No one had a video recorder in those days. I remember seeing him in a BBC 15 year celebration or something like that which ran parallel to Tom bakers Doc and culminated in the "three doctors" but ran for weeks on BBC 2 with episodes of Hartnell and Troughton. The doctor and jamie, Jamie and the Doctor. Jamie used to take the Mickey out of the doctor at every oportunity. There were a myriad of scientific explanations as to how the doctor would use a comb to generate static electricity to open lift doors (in the days before sonic screwdrivers) and throw a dalek onto a bedsheet to insulate the static which powered the primitive dalek. Apart from that the doctor was totally emotional. He got scared quite a lot, as well as being tender with his companions. TO me he was just Brilliant. I really hope they findo the missing episodes one day coy I didnt get to see them all. So my vote definatelz goes to troughton. Eccleston was BRilliant or should I say fantastic. I think he would have echoed and maybe surpassed Troughton given time. _________________ The Master returns ...Wow!

i agree with your "first doctor seen" theory, as the first doctor i was concious of was McGann, and he is deffinately my favourite, but i was 12 and i'm sure part of choosing him as my favourite is that i have a bit of a crush on Paul
i am trying to educate myself though, got hold of some ramdon dvd's of hartnell, t baker and davidson, and when i next go home i'll see if i can borrow some of my cousin's novels and vids. _________________ "look, i'm busy resonating concrete"

McGann was a good Doctor and its a shame that we didn't get to see him enough. |

| Davison or CE |

Its really hard for me to chose between CE and Peter Davison, as I only started watching Who this series, but I have also started watching the old series and I think that Davison portrayed a sensetive, yet active Doctor. _________________ Mistress should engage running mode

It just has to be Chris for me. None of the others stared alongside Captain Jack.

I would do but there is only one Captain (I think).
I don't think there should even be a post as we all know who everyone's fav Captain is, of course. _________________ "Correctamundo! A word I have never said before and hopefully never will again" The Doctor in 'School Reunion'

No, there is another. Can't remember his name. He was on the episode with the Tractators. I know what I mean, even if you don't! _________________ Three English teams in the CL Semi-Finals!

although i appreciate the other dr's. Eccelston, Tom Baker, McGann, Joh Pertwee, and maybe Patrick Troughton were in a different league to all the other dr's. _________________ "These Shoes They Fit Perfectly!" 8th Dr Paul McGann - Anybody Want A Jelly Baby ? |

Ok. Why did no one vote for John Pertwee, William Hartnell or Slyvester Mc Coy? _________________ The Master returns ...Wow!

I didn't because:
1. I don't know who the first two people you mentioned are.
2. I think CE was better than SMcC.
Anyways: Woo, resurected topic!
