A good find.

First post, so here goes.

I was recently at a flee market and found The Making Of SHAKEDOWN Return Of The Sontarans on VHS. I really enjoyed it, it wet my apatite to see the movie, but when I went online to try and find it, I found it has been deleted in the UK. I tried video hunt but had no luck, can anyone recommend where I might be able to order a copy ?

For those of you that have seen the movie can you tell me if it lives up to the making of Question

Also on the tape, was the dreamwatch 94 highlights, with a whole host of actors from Dr Who and some from other classic si fi shows from that time. All in all I was very pleased with the find considering it only cost £1.

Wow!, Shakedown, uf I had forgotten that existed. I haven't seen it by the way. I try to stay away from spin-offs I'm still not quite sure whether I want to watch Torchwood or not when it comes out. By the way Welcome to the Forum Carl. Great to have you on board.

Let me see anyone who is interested in shakedown should check out the following web sites.

When you say that it has been deleted in the UK I'm not quite sure what you mean. I think you probably mean it is out of stock. As in a book that is out of print. I.e. they are not making any more copies of it. This I can only guess might be due to the fact that Virgin bought the rights to the story when they printed Terrance Dicks' extended version and didn't want any video copies interfering with the sales of the book.

So what about all the back up copies sitting in warehouses that were never sold in the first place? The truth is that I don't know if any exist but if they did there are a few places you could look.

1) Doctor who magazine. Specialized fanzines usually make a cut on the merchandising that they advertise on the back pages or wherever. It is entriely possible that the magazine warehouse (or is that the Magazine magazine?) may have a backlog. Have a look through some old copies and write to them, they will be glad to help. The Link to their page is in my link section on this very forum.

2) the Original film production warehouse, (I don't know offhand where produced the Shakedown spinoff but very few companies are licensed as having the rights to BBC merchandising. BBV Bill and Ben videos is usually the company that deals with the Doctor who spin- offs. You could try them.

3) The Doctor who appreciation society. They don't sell stuff but they might be able to arrange for you to watch the video at a fan club base near you or even better. The Weblink is also in my links section. You might have to become a member though. (I do not have commision or anything like it in case anyone was wandering)

I will have a look through my backlog of Doctor who magazines and see if I can come up with more info such as the company that produced the original video and if it can still be mail ordered. It might take a few days though.

I was very impressed by the 1 pound deal that you got. It certainly was worth it I feel. When I am in England I always go to the Car boot sales and see what I can find. I generally look for missing episodes and old DWM issues. But I usually only find old DW comics.

Hi Der Martin,

Thank's for the welcome and the infomation, it is most appreciated.

I myself am not one usually for spin offs but I really did enjoy the documentary and the ethusiasm from all involved in it's making. For me it showed that the main actors from Dr Who had pride enough to be part of the production. I don't think money was everyone's motivation because you can see they were all having a whale of a time making it.

You were exactly right about what you said deleted means in the uk, I think it's a daft word because to me delete means to wipe over or get rid of, but it's the word they use here, nut's I know.

On another note,
Will you be watching the "Children in Need" preview tomorrow night or do you live in a county that does not receive it

When I heard about it being on as part of Children in Need I truthfully shouted out, no!!!!! don't do it, as Christopher Eccleston did such a good job, I did not want them to jepardize the new Dr's introduction by doing something hammed up that was not really related to the story, but now that I have read a bit about it and that they are just showing a preview I'm happy. I didn't want them jepardizing future series, it only takes a pebble to make a landslide and I did not want them to do anything silly.

Did you ever see the 3D Dr Who Children in Need did once, they mixed it up with a soap called Eastenders, it was ok and the 3D gimmick added to it's fun.

Any hoo, thanks again for the info I'm going to check it out now.
Der Martin

Actually I will not be able to see the children in need special. Don´t get it in Germany, bummer. I kinda hope that they won´t make a mess of it as in the 3 Dr. Eastenders thing. But somehow I have faith in RTD. He is extraordinarily good at exploiting every television opportunity. I might have to stay away from the forum for a week or so until I manage to get a copy somehow. I will still do the quiz of course, but might stay away from other parts so as not to read spoilers. You guys go ahead and enjoy the appetiser. seeya soon

Thanks for the brill link Der Martin, I will be adding some more credit on to my card, but I’m only too pleased to do it and £12.99 is not going to brake the bank, well hope not.

Sorry you will not be able to see the C.I.N thing, although all being well and I don't miss it or something drastic happens with my recorder, do you want me to try and upload a QT to a free storage link I know and on a PM send you the link to down load it. The link will not be given to anyone else unless they need it and once you have watched it, it’s up to you what you do with it , after all it is only a clip, and there is no gain.

Just say the word and I will try, I've never done it before but apparently you can upload 500 meg at a time to this storage place and you have three months to down load it, also as long as it has one download in that time, it will stay active for as long as anyone needs it, so they say.

Link just in case someone else needs to use it.

Is the K9 and Tardis made in 3D Studio Max?

I use Lightwave to do my 3D animation but the animated Dr Who gifs were freebies off an animated gif page, with lots of other cool things. I will post the link when I find it, if I don't I will post the rest of the Dr Who ones that I downloaded, so everyone can use them for mood swings and tantrums.

Thankyou soo much for the link... it was most appreciated...

unfortunately i dont get a good feeling from DT's performance...

what did everyone else think?
Carl B Harrison

This is just my opinion.... they needed to make a very quick impact and sell him to the fans as well as to the public, so knowing in advance that the first 10 mins would be on CIN, they decided to work in, a slightly condensed scene written so his personality and character would, (pardon the pun), mull over in everyone's subconscious untill tht christmas special. This may sound like a lot of hogildy goop and pre contrived and the BBC would not do such a thing, BUT... the New Dr. has a lot to live up to after the Eccleston potrayal and a condensed first 10 min introduction would get everyone so caught up in what is happening with the Dr's regeneration and the story, they would be gaging for the xmas special, of which I am..... Very Happy
Deako

Der Martin couln't of said it better himself!
Thank you Mr. Harrison.
Der Martin

Indeed we are in full agreement!. Very Happy
