Well, I think he should be back in the finally, if not the Christmas Special!

If there's so much on about the Cybermen being back, they should be quite an important enemy. And I guess, like the Daleks, they would feature in several multi-episode adventures. I wouldn't bring up two supervillians in a season. So maybe if no other great old enemies of the Doctor return in 2007, the Master could be welcome in that season. The Master is so great, just let the new fans get comfortable with the Doctor and his adventures before letting him meet his ultimate nemesis.

A thought occurs: Didn't The Doctor sayallTimelords were dead?...
Oh well, screw The Master lets think of someone/something else to bring back. -- How about those tree-people from the second episode of CE's series?

It would be quite cool to see that i suppose
|
Deako

Yes. Also it would give us hope of Timelords like the Meddling Monk and the Valeyard returning...
Couldn't you just imagine David Tennant or Jack Harkness lunging at the Valeyard with some sort of pickaxe? (Retorical question)

Just a quick point seeing the master and rani and what not are "Exiles" would they count as official timelords, secondly would they be likly to help the race who exciled them? Just a point. PS "Bring him back!" he still has another 11 lives

Scold me if I'm wrong, but didn't the Master run out of regenerations and have to start stealing bodies?
Btw, who's was the guest?... kat?

The Master did indeed use up all his regenerations and resort to body snatching.
The Master and the Rani would only ever help another race if it were to their own benefit. The race is in question is generally a disposable one, (inhabitants of miasmia goria, cheetah people, us earth beings).
My own opinion is that RTD will draw out the idea of The Doctor being the last Timelord for quite a while yet. The idea is very catching for a new/young program/ audience which is, in essence, what we are dealing with albeit reborn and arisen from the ashes of old.
In the original series which was only meant to run for 6 weeks, the doctor was never assumed to be the only one of his kind e.g. he travelled with his granddaughter who was presumably from the same race as he and he stopped the odd Monk (whose identity as a timelord was then unclear) from changing history, however it was six years before the timelords (as a race) were revealed to us- During that time the show managed quite well without them, although admittedly its popularity waned a little towards the end of the Doctors second regeneration.
I guess what I'm trying to say is that although The Timelords are sure to make a reappearance at some point, I wouldn't hold my breath just yet RTD might just wait until the ratings go down a little before bringing back the Master or the rest of the Timelords.

By 11 lives we have only seen 12(?) (delgado) and 13 (eg body snatching master). This is would mean the doctor knows the masters mortality (possibly how the master dies each time.) It could also give an explenation of why the master blames the doctor for his lost life. Another option is Retro grade regeneration (eg the master has found a way to reverse his regeneration cycle) giving him the chance to relive his 12 lives.

I see what Der Martin is saying. RTD may use the Master and Time Lords as a trump card.

If the master returned I would love to see Jonathan Pryce play the part again, he just is so good at it.

i like the idea of retrograde lifecycles, but i can't figure out how to make it work, you couldn't have the master living his lives in reverse moment by moment, but i guess it would be more the "spirit" of the master going through another 12 bodies...
i don't know

bring back the masterHello Guest here,
I have worked out a vayge plot synopsis. Basicly retrograding would mean the master would have 12 bodys again starting at 12 and working back, regenirating to the body prior to the last.
So he would not do any thing backwards or what not, but as a part of retrograding his regenerations would occure more frequently as the atoms are less stable.
Also his memory would remain constant, No mental or "time" changes occure, only his physical apperarance would retrograde.
I have come up with a plauseable explenation for surviving the movie. The master (eg "the cobera") was a mental projection that the real master used, the master (tremis)'s body has finally worn out and again he is reduced to an amaciated husk.
He had made a deal with the daleks that he would kill the doctor, but to do this they would need to fake the exicution.
What was swallowed into the tardis at the climax of the movie was goo, smart goo but goo none the less.
Now after hiding on a planet on the edge of the universe the master has found what he needs...the white hole(inverse of the black hole).
Well thats part of how I'd do it, I don't want to give the rest away as im writing a complete script but if any one is interested (preferably those who are in DR Who production team) please Pm me.
PN I have not read all novels so i dont know what has happened in the story's.
Bye for now,
Bob

Can't see any problem at all with bringing the Master Back, I think the Guest's theories are valid and could work, but you do not need to make it complicated at all, as the answer has always been there.
Pick any Master from any time period because he exists in that time, bring him forward to wherever you want and he continues to live from that point on, then depending on which generation of Master you chose, that determines how many regeneration's he has left and he is still moving forward in time plus, the general public watching will understand this because they have been used for years to Dr's bumping into each other.
Sorted

Re: bring back the master | formaly known as guest wrote: | | ...the white hole(inverse of the black hole) |
Excuse me, Stephen Hawking book reader here. I can make a fairly well educated guess that a white hole would actually be called a Sun!
Explenation: A black hole pulls in anything... Including light. A Sun gives out light. That surely would make that more of an inverse? -- Unless you use the Sci-fi excuse.(Which is getting on my nerves now)
Even then, a Sun can hardly be called a hole. Can it?
Anyways, welcome to the forum FKAGuest.

How can a sun be a white hole when its... well... not white?

Dont know how this thing got started. But the concept of a White hole, as far as I understand it, is to be described in terms of Gravity rather than colour. A black hole is only black because of the inmense gravity that is the defining property and sucks in even (but not only) light. A white hole only exists in theory (as far as human knowledge goes) and we would expect it to be the exact opposite of a black hole. Thus such a phenomena would spew out (so to speak, to coin a phrase, as it were) a whole manner of stuff, not just light, into an expanding universe/Galaxy.
My guess is twofold (and it is only a guess):
1)The heat involved/produced would be inmense and would be blinding to the human eye thus it ought to be as white as snow in the micronanosecond that it would take to frazzle both our retina, connecting brain and the ashtray of a body attached to it.
2) If however we could see it at a safe distance say 200 Billion light years then it would appear to us as being multicoloured rather like the crab nebula due to other gaseous matter that the white hole would emit as well as the the stuff which lies betweeen ourselves and the white hole and acts as a filter.
There´s my tuppence

Becuase white is all the colours of the rainbow. (Prism theory)

Very useful internet translators, I was worried until I saw the translation.
I only speak two languages English and Geordie although I do watch a lot of German movies, they don't say much in them so I've never really picked up the language. I only know one word and that's "Ja" and the chances of me ever using this word in it's context are few, far and never.
Quickly getting back to the Master, before I have to dig a big hole and jump into it, no one commented on how I thought he could come back... time has infinite possibilities and what I suggested is feasible, cos as I said the Doctors are always bumping into one another.

That's what I say about anyone dying! The Master, Daleks, Timelords, Dodos and King Henry the Eigth. They're all in time somewhere!

I think the story has got lots of potential. It is quite simple, because the master didnt fight in the time, so you never know.
