Companions from GallifreyTime Lord companions
Only twice has the doctor been accompanied on his travels by a member of his own people.
Susan Susan, his granddaughter, adopted the surname Foreman (from the junkyard where the TARDIS was based in 1963) and travelled with the Doctor's first incarnation until she fell in love with a human being, remaining on earth in the twenty-first century. The Doctor closed the doors of the Tardis and would not allow Susan back in believing that she would be much happier (and possibly safer) there on earth. He spoke to her through the Tardis COM system, giving one of the most touching monologues in the history of time travel. Susan was portrayed as a young student who, although slightly naive for a Time Lord, wished only to learn and to look after her grandfather. The Doctor's fondness of Susan was never an issue and his fifth incarnation almost melts at meeting her again when she is plucked out of time by the Time Lords to help the Doctor solve the mystery of the game of Rassilon on Gallifrey. After this crisis Susan was returned to her own timeline with the Doctor' s first incarnation and has not been seen since (unless you count a charity spin off for children in need in 1995).
Romana: Romana was a Time Lady appointed to assist the fourth Doctor in his quest to find the key to time. Her full name was Romanadvoratrelundar. Romana considered the Doctor to be rather out of touch with reality. She was not afraid to argue with the Doctor over concepts and principles and the laws of the universe, usually claiming to have superior academic knowledge on the subject. Romana was often surprised that the Doctors reasoning and planning should work and oftentimes put the Doctors tight jam escapism down to luck rather than calculated logic. Through time she began to appeciate the Doctor's universal experience for which academic knowledge is no substitute. After the quest for the Key to Time Romana decides it is time for her to regenerate. She does so in a rather differente fashion to that of the Doctor. Her regeneration is somewhat voluntary (no impending death in sight) and she is able to choose from different bodily forms. Speculation has arisen that female regeneration may be somewhat different to male regeneration based on Romanas transformation. She eventually chooses the form of Princess Astra of Atrios...
When she is summoned to return to Gallifrey by the Time Lords, she ignores the call and chooses to stay in the paralell universe of Espace and helo the time sensitive Tharils to free their fellows from slavery. She takes K.9 Mk I with her.
