Did you know....?Thought I would start a titbits section. People can add to it if they like, but please just post genunine stuff ok? Here goes
Did you know that ...
1) The Original Dr. Who series was only scheduled to run for six weeks.
2) Some of the original episodes with William Hartnell were filmed live. They didnt necesarily go out live but there was no chance to repeat a scene so there are very few out takes.
3) Patrick Troughton is the only doctor to have co-starred alongside five other doctors.
4) Colin Baker's first role in Doctor who was not playing the doctor, but a Guard on Gallifrey when Peter Davison's incarnation visited the plantet. (I believe it was during Arc of infinity but from memory I could be wrong).
5) The very first episode of DW, (an unearthly child) did NOT go out on the day that president John F. Kennedy was assasinated but a week later. Many fans still believe that the show was posponed for one week so that the BBC could cover the assasination, others still believe that it went out at that very moment!
6) Colin Baker is terrified of Spiders.
7) In Dragonfire, a seventh doctor Story, Slyvester McCoy and others were actually really slipping around on ice and that the ice scenes were not at all choreographed.
Colin Baker is the only Doctor to have done all his own stunts.
9) Tom Baker Married his co-star lalla ward in 1980
10) Tom Baker and Lalla got divorced 16 months later
11) In the five Doctors the Doctor's first incarnation was played by Richard Hurdnall who for some sported a stunning likeness to William Hartnell, even the surnames were similar!
12) Peter Davison had a fondness for scripts with a historical twist in them and preferred them to stories set in the future.
13) Jon Pertwee's full name was John Devon Roland Pertwee. (ahem!)
12) From 1955 to 1960 JP was married to Jean Marsh who starred in Doctor who twice, alongside William Hartnell (The Dalek's Master Plan) and Slyvester McCoy (Battlefield) but never alongside her Husband.
13) Colin Baker applied for the job of the fifth doctor but came in second to Peter Davison.
14) K-9 was introduced to Dr. Who after Graham Williams, the shows producer at the time, saw the sucess of the droid R2-D2 in the film "Star wars"
15) K-9 was a technical nightmare especially when it came to non flat surfaces and interferences with its remote control signal from neighbouring studios at the BBC.

17) Despite believes: Christopher Eclleston did not leave the show because he was scared of being known as 'The Doctor' throughout his acting career.

19) Christopher Eclleston cannot drive a manual car. -- It has to be automtic. This caused lots of trouble of BBC2's show Top Gear! Every week they challenge a celebrity to race around their track in a 'reasonably priced car'. The car they chose for CE was manual and there are only 12 automatiocs in England to date! -- Luckily they found him one!

20) And Eccleston even passed his driving exam later than I did. I got my license in 2003. He got it in 2004.

21) Jon Pertwee was a member of the magic circle and got the job on the strength of his sleight of hand. Once he signed the contract he absolutely refused to use any of his conjuring abilities on screen on the grounds that he wanted to be taken more seriously as an actor. This put enormous strain on the production team as the scripts for Pertwee's entire first season had already been written and approved with the Doctor performing a number of magic card and escape tricks.

22) Johnathan-Nathan Turner offered Colin Baker the role of the sixth doctor after Colin had amused various guests at the Wedding of Lynn Richards who had been assistant floor manager on the episode "Arc of infinity" Colin never did a real audition.
