Film/TV

Here you can chat about any films/tv you're watching and think others should, what you're looking forward to in the cinema, classic films which should be part of anyone's collection etc

Hmm... Has anyone ever watched The Godfather Trilogy? I've recently viewed all thre with my dad and loved every second of it!
kat

yes, we watched all three on consecutive sunday mornings after buying the box set, very very good
Deako

Favourite bit?
Der Martin

Er I have seen Highlander 24 times in 4 different languages and have memorised the dialogue in Spanish and English. Highly recommendable.
Deako

I'll be watching "The Game" next weekend. Any info on that?

HACKERS is the best film ever...
angelina jolie as a hot computer hacker does it for me...
add in those Macs and that cool but soo unrealistic super computer, and I'm happy.
one other thing about that film, who agrees with this, if worms looked as good as they do in that film, would you collect them?
I would! (in my virus vault though)
ttfn...

so ahem, yes, back to film and tv in general:

favourite classic british series?
Deako

Hmm... Do the Monty python films (My favourite movies ever) count as a series? Confused
Der Martin

I dont think they count as a series , the films are entirely unconnected. Monty python did have a series though.. Two in fact as I remember (could be wrong). One was called "Monty python“s flying circus" and the other was called "And now for something completely different" which by its very nature was not connected to anything not even to itself. So if conection is any kind of prerequisite for a series then that probably wasn“t a series either. Shocked I am definately open to correction here though.
Der Martin

My favourite MP sketches are. The Killer Joke. THe art of not being seen. and possibly the Hungarian phrase book.
Deako

"And now for soething completely different" is a series of sketches taken from "Monty Python's Flying Circus".

Anyways, I would say that my favourite British series is probably Doctor Who; if MP dosen't count.
Der Martin

Ok. thanks for that.So which are your favorite MP sketches then?
Der Martin

My favorite TV series are 1) Doctor Who, 2) The Twilight zone (original B+W ones) 3) The wonder years and 4) Star trek TNG in that order

I guess close after comes all classic british comedy series. Blackadder, The young ones, Steptoe and son, Only fools and horses, Fawlty towers, Red Dwarf, Hitch hikers Guide etc. As far as non-british comedy TV series Go I cant think of any that appease me enough to laugh heartily. I think Friends was a good attempt at comedy. At times I wanted to laugh and the other 60% of the time I wanted to be sick which is not bad really. Simpsons is good but I really Really cannot stand That one where Kenny gets killed in every episode (I cannot bring myself to pronounce it) Absolutely hate Beevis and Butthead because of its realism (My job involves many Beevii and Buttheed). And I never saw the funny side of CHeers.

Just me I guess

Me too! Very Happy

Anyways, my favourite MP movie is the hilarious Holy Grail. My favourite sketches would have to be:-
3) The Lumberjack Song (And Now for Something Completely Different)
2) The Black Knight Sketch (Holy Grail)
1) The Dead Parrot Sketch (And Now for Something Completely Different)
Deako

Ok then lets get some film discussion going!

Has anybody seen "Northanger Abbey"? The Jane Austen film? If not, don't! I love Jane Austen films but this is one terrible exception of over-acting under-acting and down right shoddyness! BOO HISS!!
Rating: Rating: 2/10

Anyways, "Nell". Anyone ever watched Nell? Touching film with great acting? Beautiful big lake? Forest? Daisy in dead eyes? Chickabay?LILLA CHICKABAY!?! Ahem, it's great!
Rating: Rating: 9/10

I have been deprieving myself. 13 and 2 thirds tommorow and I've only just seen "Scent of a Woman" for the first time... Al Paccino really did deserve the oscar for that stirring speech at the end. I must say the character of the Colonel was made for Al Pacccino... So what if he's blind? The Godfather can do anything! Ahem, anyways, watch it now or fore-ever hold your peace. I'd love to continue 'cause I'm just warming up but I won't!

The Doctor

I would like to think Britain makes the better television, but although I love shows such as Fawlty Towers, My Family and Only Fools and Horses, none of them entertain me as much as Friends and Will and Grace.

So for me it is probs...

1. Doctor Who
2. Friends
3. Will and Grace
4. Only Fools and Horses
5. Fawlty Towers

The Doctor

Anyway..new discussion....Dancing on ice final was great infact the whole series was good! I thought Atefan did the bolero better, but, at lest bonnie didn't win. I liked Gaynor and she was my third favourite (1.John 2.Stefan) so i don't begrudge her the victory.
Berethor

Yeah i was sort of half watching it half playing Warcraft 3
Berethor

Does anyone like Stargate SG-1?
Zhord

I watched the original SG-1 series right up to series 7... dunno what is happening after that? I'm not keen on that Atlantis.... it reminds me of having a good series like Star Trek then having Deep Space Nine lol
kat

i like star gate, but don't follow it religiously, i couldn't tell you any of the characters names or anything
Deako

Did anyone catch the first episode of the new My Hero? -- If so, go ahead and go comatose, if not, DO NOT WATCH IT!!

The worst 'revamp' since Micheal Jackson. Puke
The Doctor

I used to like it, but decided not to watch after Arnold left.
