that post went on to the blog twice. (coz the site sucks)

and then yesterday. which has since been removed i think, which was just the url for this site.

Hello folks. So the Plastic bag forum as far as I know was what sort of what impulsed zhord to make a new forum. Actually to help Mr. Tom coates out as his forum was about to cost him money as I understood it. His forum was also only centred on one topic i.e. "bad wolf" Anyway it would be silly to start slagging of other forums, especially one that helped (albeit indirectly) to found this one, which by the way I find fantastic. Anyway I have thought about amplifying this one and if anyone wants to really take this forum seriously there is a very simple way of doing it. I have tried and tested it with many other forums on other subjects.
Wanna hear what it is?
Ok here goes........

1) First one must make a Page with a mryiad of links to other sites (good sites) on the same topic with a small description written underneath as to what happpens on each site. A kind of summary.
2) for each site someone must write an Email to the sites webmaster (every site has one) with the following text:
Hello webmaster. Thanks for the good work that you are doing on what I think is a worthwhile subject. I (along with a few others) have just set up a website where people can openly express their opinions as regards all things related to Doctor who. We have placed a link to your website in our links section so that our users may also enjoy what you have done. Could you please return the favour and place a link from your website to ours. Our address is http://doctorwho.myfreeforum.org. Thank you very much indeed.
3) wait for a boat load of people to surf into your site and take it from there

Now I myself could post a whole bunch of links here to other pages (with the relevant descriptions but I think we all should have a go at it, depnding on how many people are interested in expanding the forum.
It really does only take a minimum of effort. Of each of our members posts up 5 links and writes 5 Emails (only one in 5 will actually succeed in getting a link back) then the forum will increase exponentially. Dont know if that is what Deako had in mind, but there you go, Thats an idea.

For the record, I am very grateful to Mr. Coates and revere his work at the BBC. I reckon his forum took off on a wave that he never really imagined.

there is no reason for a man in his position to be so upset by me advertising Zhord's forum. does anybody agree with me that he does seem a little hostile saying this to me, when i only posted links to this forum twice?

he has now banned our link from being posted, i think! wouldn't let me have it in my last post there!

Yeah you are quite correct that it wasnt you who posted all the references to this forum. Hostile? well maybe just a bit but you did say his forum was awful. I have actually no relationship whatsoever to the man (tom coates) , no more than I have to anyone else. I just surfed on in the same as the rest of you I should think. Im actually a bit of a loner. Live in the mountains in the middle of Germany and all that. But I was and am totally grateful to his forum (as I am to this one) to be able to talk to someone about my favorite subject. i.e. Doctor who. But hey dont lose any sleep over it. It is all really innocent fun. Thank god!/emperor dalek/timelord guru/manager of Tardis r us (draw a line through the approporiate.)

Oh yeah, at least one of the links to this forum was posted by me. I dont feel guilty about it at all. In fact I thought I was doing the other forum a favour.

Actually, it was me who posted this forum's address on PLastic Bag several times. I don't recall anyone posting 11 times though, but that site does sometimes post your comment twice.

I will set up another categorie below for all the links to go.

We could each have our own thread with our own links in such as:

"Zhord's Favourite Links"

"Joel's Favourite Links" etc etc

It hasn't shut down... there are still people posting on it but it HAS blocked our forum url so we can't post this address anymore.

i noticed that.... has tom coates gone mad.
you were just trying to help him about so he didn't end up getting charged money for his site.
mind you i did kind of stick it to him.
anyways, i have got an email back from the beeb about putting a link to our site on theres. but the webmaster say they aren't planning on doing links on the offical dr who site, but they will put us on the beeb search engine... i haven't heard back from any of the Dr Who fansites yet.

hahaha yeah there are some really interesting ideas and opinions posted up there...

its just such an annoying format to deal with... and tom coates is way to sensitive...

other than that.. i totally recommend that dr who fans check it out, and read through posts from ppl like Martin, Gerry, Deamack, Scammeleon, Logic, Ian Latrine, Zhord, and Myself...

sry if i left anyone out, im not going throught it again just to work out who posted what and how deserves a mention...
