The Last Timelord??Ok thought I would start a thread. Big question... Can the Doctor really be the last of the Timelords? If the Time War took place on/in/around Gallifrey and Gallifrey was destroyed, would it really mean that ALL timelords perished with it? Remember there have always been renegade Timelords who have travelled to other worlds rejecting Timelord culture. Perhaps the planet itself survived and is only devoid of life.
I do of course have my own theories but I would like to see what you guys think about it before posting them.

Excellent question! Lets not that forget that a TARDIS can go forward AND BACKWARDS in time. The Doctor simply has to go back to Gallifrey before it was destroyed and before the Time War happened.
E.g.:-
The Doctor: Cooey, fellow Timelords.
Fellow Timelords: Cooey, the Doctor...
Anyways, lets say that another Timelord goes forward in time. While there he/she learns of the Time War and decides to avoid it. -- Either by staying in future or not going to where-ever it happened...
E.g.:-
Timelord Tim: Cooey aliens. Where is Gallifrey? The map I bought from the space-petrol station dosen't label it.
Aliens: Cooey, Timelord Tim. Sorry mate, but Gallifrey was destroyed by Daleks. It happened in the Time War...

RTD must somehow either
a) Find a away so that the Doctor can NOT go back in time to save the Time Lords i.e. what is done is done (like in Fathers Day - no matter what happens, it will always result in the same ending. Rose kpet her father alive for two extra hours but he died in the end. There was no way around it)
b) Just like the Daleks, the Time Lord are hiding or somewhere else.
Also, if they are the Lords of Time, surely they would have seen their destruction and avoided it somehow?

That last sentence was exactacaly what I was getting at, Zhord!

in the episode with rose's father the doctor says "don't you think ive thought about going back and saving my ppl" or something like that?
i think it seems pretty open...
either he can do it but doesn't want to, or he can't go back and save the timelords.
either way there is still the possibility of bring back some if not all the timelords...

wasn't the doctor tried for time crimes before? and wouldn't bringing back a whole race be a similar thing? what if he did and then the time lords said "that was a naughty thiing you did there" and banish him from everywhere?

There would have to be a terrible situation occur where absolutely the only way to save the universe from total destruction was to go back in time and rescue the odd timelord to do battle with an undefeatable enemy. Another Omega crisis perhaps.

you need to start writing scripts der martin... seriously!!!

Der Martin could definitely be a script writer...
Who knows he might even be able to work me into a script as some guy who gets eaten by a monster during the first two minutes...
