Why is Captain Jack so popular?Post your Ideas here, about why Jack is so popular!

Because since we live in a society where everyone exepts and is tolerant of different people's sexual mannerisms, RTD decided to bring in Jack to toy with Rose's sexual emotions and also flirt with the Doctor. This makes the viewers feel the sexual tension and therefore open up Doctor Who to a new audience whether you are straight, bi or gay.

Apart from the mans sexuality, there are a couple more points to why he is so popular. Actually I'm not entirely convinced yet that outside of this forum he is so popular but anyway here's my tuppence....
1) he had a cool ship to begin with and also does scans for "alien tech" that means he is a modern kinda guy with gadgets. People tend to really get off on modern guys with gadgets (james bond, Batman, etc.)
2) He is not afraid to blast things, one of his gadgets was a blaster ..so action packed character
3) He is witty. He has retorts with other characters and with the doctor, such wit is not always appreciated but doeas appeal to large numbers of peeps.
4) He is an underdog. He has been destined to die a couple of times in the show with no chance of survival and he knows it. Thats why it is such fun to bring him back from the dead ...emergency protocol 417 (i dont remember if that is the correct number to order a double hypervodka but for this post it will do) and all that jazz. Another good underdog quote "how come I never get any of that?"
5) He is emotional and he shows it thus appealing to the Irish-Italian streak in all of us

We could explain the reasons more easily. He's popular because he is:
1. Handsome
2. Action Hero (with the shooting and blowing up stuff)
3. Sort of a bad boy (stolen the Chula ships and planning to con The Dcoctor ande Rose)
4. Funny
5. Mysterious (two missing years and so much in common with the Doctor)

oops. Touched a nerve I see. If you read carefully I didn't say that jack is unpopular outside of this forum I merely said that I am not yet convinced that he is as popular outside as he is here. I did mention many reasons as to why he is a popular character. Relax. Have a jelly baby.

i think it's coz he pulled a weapon out of his ass. anytime you see something like that you can't help but feel something special for a character.
